She has executed several design projects off and on field hence being able to understand the ins and outs of the design process professionally as well as academically. She has a vibrant personality and ready knowledge of the construction industry hence enabling the students to come up with a dynamic spatial design from colour selection to furniture placement etc.

about this course

Introduction 

 

This course is designed to introduce participants to principles of design arrangements in in any built space. The course provides a general and complete overview over the processes and design thinking that underlie and determine an architecture & an interior design project. By the end of the course participants will be able to criticize and to produce a simple yet correct and coherent project. Particular emphasis will be put on the language of design and how to translate a concept to a product (which could be an interior space). During the course the student will receive assignments to be carried out within a short time frame about simple design related topics.

Course Objectives

This course has following main objectives

  • To identify design & design thinking as a potential medium and techniques to explain concepts and abstract ideas into 3D realm

  • To study design principles necessary for concept translation and how they can be implemented in interior spaces, spatial composition, circulation and 3D visualization.

  • To realize importance of emotional design and how multi-sensory experiences shape our life and the spaces we live in intrinsically.

  • To analyze site, user, context and program with the right methods and techniques and derive conclusions which render projects at varying stages

Week 3: UNDERSTANDING THE BUILT SPACE AND BUILDING DESIGN

  • Understanding spatial relationships

  • A typology of technical drawing

  • Building construction materials

 
Week 4: ASSIGNMENT

  • A handout will be given and an assignment will be held with the participants in class that will include taking a clients brief and understanding of the built environment of student’s bedroom
