Huma Mir has been serving in the field of education as senior educationist and consultant. Having more than 20 years of diverse professional experience of working with national and international organizations in the development sector of Pakistan, she has completed masters in English Language Teaching (ELT) from Kinnaird College for Women, Lahore and holding another in Political Science from University of the Punjab, Lahore. She has also done Bachelors in Education (B.Ed.) from University of the Punjab, Lahore in 2013.

 

Currently, she has been providing consultancy services to public and private sectors in various fields of education i.e. Early Childhood Education (ECE), Inclusive Education and General School Education, research, capacity building curriculum development and IEC. She writes in national dailies as freelance writer and Speaks on various social issues as motivational speaker.

Introduction 

 

Traditional schooling is mainly focused on imparting academic and technical skills alone. This is often not sufficient for the young ones to face personal, academic, social and economic challenges that life brings along.This innovative course is designed to develop a solid base for young students to acquire quality soft skills which would help them succeed & lead in school, work, and life.

Soft skills are non-academic skills and also known as people skills or skills of 21st century that prepare children to become more responsive, adaptive young learners as leaders and global citizens.

Program OUTLINE

Week 1: Creativity and Imagination

A child’s imagination is limitless and plays a crucial part in cognitive and social development. Children will learn to:​

  • participate in Imaginative exercises

  • reorganize their thinking process

  • avail the opportunity to develop their ideas

  • create the opportunity to build a child’ social and emotional skills

  • express their individuality through their ideas and projects

  • process information faster

 
Week 2: Critical thinking and Innovation

In today’s world, children cannot simply rely of rote learning and memory work. It is important for them to be innovative thinkers and lifelong learners to:

  • be able to analyze,

  • to compare

  • to infer information from their environment

  • explore the given problem or situation

  • think in an innovative manner by asking probing questions

  • think about coming up with their own ideas and solutions

 
Week 3: Communication- Public Speaking and Presentation

This week will focus on developing public speaking and presentation skills help children to improve their foundational skills as well as further support them to:

  • communicate thoughts effectively

  • present ideas clearly

  • develop a clear and coherent method to persuade

  • compliment and give encouragement

  • become enthusiastic learners

 
Week 4: Collaboration & Teamwork

Understanding the importance of teamwork teaches children that success is achieved through every individual’s effort and how to act in a leadership role. They will learn to:

  • think and share ideas

  • cooperate and acceptance of others

  • contribute in a joint task

  • provide solutions through joint efforts

  • learn to receive and give feedback positively

  • be a keen learner for the general well-being of the team

 

Week 5: Confidence and Flexibility

Children will learn that it is okay to ask for help in times of trouble and to make mistakes and get failures. Such learning train them to stay flexible and leads to:
